WordPress 3.3 is nice, but…

…it would be better if there were buttons for creating tables. You can still code a table in HTML mode, but it would be SO much easier to do it with buttons.

See, no table buttons. What a disappointment.

Installed a plugin called Ultimate TinyMCE, which gives you the opportunity to customize the tool bar, including adding table editing buttons. Problem solved!

Tables have gotten somewhat of a bad rap among Web developers, because back in the olden days, tables were one of the few tools developers had for creating layouts. As web design became more intricate, using tables to layout pages became more of a headache.

I think there is probably some lingering table resentment/snobbiness out there. But I for one say it is time to welcome tables back into our lives. No, we’re not designing the whole page around tables, but they are still a great way to organize data. So come on WordPress, let’s have some table buttons STANDARD in the next update.
